Old Things About Me

“I’ve Got News for You…”

This was something my Grandmother used to say all the time. She practically started every sentence with the phrase. So this phrase reminds me of random stories, family gossip and many many other wonderful things said by my Grandmother. So it’s what I will call this blog…because well…I’ve got news for you.

I am many things. (And for the record let’s call me NewsGirl for now.) Like the song says: “I’m a bitch. I’m a lover. I’m a child. I’m a mother. I’m a sinner. I’m a saint. I do not feel ashamed.” All but one of those things applies to me. Sadly, I am not a mother. Not yet anyway. Like millions of other women I suffer from the dreaded diagnosis of 628.9 “Female infertility, unspecified.” My husband (I’ll get to him in a moment) and I have been “trying” to have our first child for over a year and a half. This past year and a half has shaped me in a way I never knew possible. I am positive that my infertility will come up quite often, as I’ve found too many suffer from this silently, and I’m a firm believer that no one should suffer from anything silently. Because let’s be honest…there are a couple of things I am not…and it’s quiet and reserved. I can be a bit in your face. I’ve even been told by bosses that I’m too aggressive. (More on that too I’m sure.) And my infertility is no different.

I am married to my college sweetheart. (We’ll call him NewsBoy.) He is a man who continues to amaze me and make me laugh every day…even after 13 years together. I love movies, reading and TV. My favorite TV show of all time is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. (And pretty much anything that Joss Whedon is involved with; Firefly was pure GENIUS.)

And well…if you want to know more…stick around.
